July 2006
International Musicians Performing Free Concert July 9 The combined choirs of Reformation will be hosting a concert featuring “Messiah’s Men Ministries”. The concert will be held Sunday afternoon, July 9, at 5:00 p.m., at the church. There is no cost for this concert. A freewill offering will be taken, which will benefit several projects to enhance development in Liberia. The Messiah’s Men Ministries is an African Christian Male Ensemble, with members based in Georgia, Rhode Island, Colorado and Pennsylvania. It is an interdenominational group founded in July 2003, whose members include ordained ministers and musicians. As members of those groups based in West Africa, the members told their stories of the horrors of war, the utter destruction of their homeland, Liberia, and their lives as refugees. They also told stories of the saving grace of God, and the incredible strength of the human spirit to endure adversity. These individuals, all now residing in the United States, have come together as the Messiah’s Men Ministries so they may continue to tell their stories of tragedy and triumph, through music. We believe that the Lord has called Messiah’s Men Ministries to be a vital part of this nation-rebuilding process: bringing life and hope to the suffering war victims of Liberia. In response to this call, the Messiah’s Men Ministries have decided and committed to building and operating a 100-bed orphanage, to adequately cater to the welfare of the nations most vulnerable, the orphans.
MARK YOUR CALENDARS NOW AND PLAN TO ATTEND!
Spiritual Gifts Forum Have You Joined Reformation in the Past Two Years?
There is a special event being held just for you on July 9th, following the 10:00 Service. Vicar Ari will be leading the last of his Spiritual Gifts Forums, and this time we want all the recent members to attend.
Through baptism, the Holy Spirit has granted you special gifts for mission and ministry. This class will look at what these gifts mean and how God wants us to use them. Most importantly, we will identify YOUR spiritual gifts and have the opportunity to discuss what they mean for YOU in your daily walk.
In the 40 Days of Purpose, you learned that God has a purpose for you; now come and learn how God has equipped you for that purpose. Every person that has attended the forum has commented on how this class has changed the way they see themselves and their role in the church.
If you haven't already, you will receive a phone call from a council member encouraging you to attend this event. Mark your calendar, look for the phone call, and bring your family and friends to this very important class. P.S. If you are a long-term member and missed the previous classes, you are still welcomed and encouraged to attend. Application forms are STILL available for camp registration. They may be picked up in the church office. Our camp is held for ten weeks from June 26 until September 1st. Pre-week is June 19th until June 23rd. (Closed) Camp fees are $80.00 a week for the first child and $50 for any other siblings. We also have Before & After care, which is $13.00 for each. Prayer concerns…for healing: Rosetta Singleton, Nicole Matthews, Faye Campbell, Maryellen Brown, Oronde Watson, Barbara Broadnax, Dorothy Wilson, Herbert Bomar, Note: If any group has information for the newsletter, it must be received by Monday of the second week of each month.
